[Chrissy keeps up with him, easily drinking what's put in front of her. She isn't as big on drinking these days as she was back in those months she spent binge drinking after her heartbreak, but she's trying not to think of that now as they sit here together. For just one night, she doesn't have to feel like a loser that's failed at everything and is settling for a mundane life that doesn't feel like it suits her.
Tonight, she's Chrissy Fucking Cunningham and he's hot and interested in her, and she hasn't fucked up any chance of ever getting with him by not asking him out that summer right after graduation. Years have passed since then, but it's still her biggest regret. And even though Jason's back home waiting for her, she finds herself wondering what it feels like to slip into Eddie's bed. God, she wants it so badly that the more she drinks, the more of a possibility it seems that she actually might suggest they go back to his hotel.
The only thing that's stopping her is she works at the nicest hotel in town on the weekends, cleaning rooms for extra cash. And she's almost positive that's exactly where Eddie's staying. Why wouldn't he be staying there? But after a fourth round, the conversation shifts to something that's definitely flirty.
He's complimenting her way too much for it to be friendly, and just has reached over to push hair out of her face. That's when she gets caught staring up at him for a little too long, biting at her lip as her eyes focus on his mouth. she wants to kiss him so badly it hurts.
Her hand raises, signaling another round from the bartender. He gives her a look and shouts something about maybe slowing down. Chrissy ignores that advice in favor of leaning in to whisper to Eddie.]
You know what? The last time I saw you backstage, I was going to tell you how much I loved you. This is going a lot better than how that went.
