in this town we call home
[Hayrides and pumpkin patches stopped being cool years ago, but Chissy's secretly always enjoyed going. The fact that Eddie also seems into the idea is an absolute delight. And whether or not he actually enjoys carving pumpkins or he's just doing it because she wants to doesn't really matter to her. All Chrissy cares about is that he's here with her and he's having a good time. They've gone on a hayride already, and they've stopped to take tons of pictures with little wooden Halloween standees the pumpkin patch has set up.
It's right on the cusp of nightfall, the two of them eagerly waiting for dark so they can go do the corn maze and make it extra creepy. The heat of summer has already given away to a chilly fall, and rather than pair her outfit with a jacket, she's opted to wear one of his flannels instead. It's not quite warm enough still, so Chrissy takes great pleasure in cuddling in close to Eddie so his arm has to be around her. They walk like that up and down the lantern lit aisles of pumpkins. Her arm is around his back, hand tucked nicely into the back pocket of his jeans. If he minds it, he doesn't say anything to her. He just leads the way around, until Chrissy shows any sign of wanting to stop and look closer at a pumpkin.
Which she does now, gasping and pulling away from him to hurry over toward a gigantic pumpkin at the end of the row. She actually tries picking it up with both hands, laughing as she realizes quickly just how heavy it is.]
This one's perfect! Look at him!

[ Eddie laughs as he raises an arm to his face, uses his sleeve to wipe away as much of the paint as he can. Then he turns the same attention to her, manages to get the both of them relatively clean faced. Eddie peppers her with kisses, takes a moment to just hold her. Whatever sweetness he had intended is cut short by the way her hand presses against him, and he has to bite down hard on his lip. ]
There's still a lot of the fair to see. [ He says with a hitched breath, as his hips twitch against her. It is so, so, so tempting to just head back to the van, and Eddie considers it for a good long moment. But for as tempting as the idea is, something about continuing through the fair manages to be more appealing. ] Think I still need to win you a big teddy bear or something.

You'll win me something? Really?
[It sounds like she thinks he's hung every star in the sky for her. Something so simple means a lot to her, and she almost feels foolish for being so genuinely pleased.]
Let's see the rest of the fair, because I don't know how long I'll be able to keep my hands off of you if you actually win me something.

[ Eddie says with all his 'hopelessly in love with girlfriend' bravado. The way that she looks up at him has a direct line to his heart, and he is determined then ever to win her the biggest, goofiest, stuffed animal they can find. They share one last sweet kiss before he slings an arm around her shoulders and guides them back into the fair.
They meander their way towards the Midway, a long stretch of all sorts of games. Bells clang and lights flash from the booths, as they watch cash and stuffed animals change hands as people win and lose. ]
What do you think? [ Eddie asks as he scans the different games. ] Anything catch your eye?

[Chrissy really takes her time looking around. Never before has a decision felt as important as this one. She's grown up coming to this exact fair and losing tons of money on the games at the midway. So she has to really pick the perfect game.
But the more she looks around, the less she cares about the game, and the more she cares about the stuffed animals themselves. And when her eyes finally settle on a giant black and red dragon, she gasps. One arm extends as she bounces in excitement, and she points over toward her chosen prize.]
That one over there! He looks just like you.
[You know, with all the black and red and...well, if Eddie Munson was a dragon, she imagines he'd be that cute and cuddly. She's giggling and all smiles as she practically rushes over toward the game booth, her hand in his so she can drag him along with her.
She's only a little dismayed when they get there and she sees the game is one of those tossing a ring onto a glass bottle games. No one ever wins these, as far as she's seen.]
